Desert Oasis
Experience:
You will travel north
though the high desert terrain, to the wondrous Camp
Creek Wash. Your vehicle will actually drive in this
sandy and soft gravel wash, which has an underground
river. This river is unseen but evident by the large
quantity of vegetation, even bamboo! You stop in a
canyon where you are surrounded by nature sculpted
rock formations and more abundant vegetation. From
here, it is just a short walk to the cool flowing
waterfalls (most of the year). You will have no
trouble relaxing and drinking in the beauty of this
oasis, as well as utilizing your photography skills.
You tour continues to an ancient Hohokam Indian
village, surrounded by its’ original retaining wall.
While hiking up a trail to the village, your guide
will share his/her vast knowledge of the surrounding
plants and wildlife. At the site are remains of walls,
rooms and courtyards overlooking a spectacular desert
vista. Your tour guide’s knowledge of these people and
how they lived, make the ruins come to life.
